HEROS OF THE NATION

Andrew Sievright

Andrew SievrightAndrew Sievright was a born entrepreneur. Following in the steps of his father, Andrew owned a series of his own businesses by the age of twenty eight. At the age of forty, Andrew left his successful 25-employee business in the hands of management and became the CEO and Director of a Youth with a Mission base in Texas. (YWAM is one of the largest mercy and relief organization in the world.) At the YWAM training base, Andrew oversaw 110 staff, 26 departments and 10 different schools that trained staff for international service in the areas of printing, desktop publishing, music, writing, and journalism.

Andrew’s base sent out many international aid teams to developing nations throughout the world. When Andrew heard of the orphanages and children that the teams visited, he knew that, given the opportunity, he would build an orphanage marked by excellent management, education and self-sufficiency through business. His dream was that orphans would have the opportunity to become leaders of their nation. Heroes of the Nation was born in his heart.

After five years with YWAM, Andrew turned his attention to business investments and the launching an internet company. On one particular investment, Andrew told God that he would give the lion share of his profits to start Heroes. In 2001, the investment did make a comprehensive profit ($900,000), despite the events of September 11th and the consequent economic downturn. Andrew founded Heroes of the Nation the following year and used the earnings from his investment to buy land, hire staff, pay salaries and begin construction. He mentored Dr. Weston and Violet Gitonga in the execution of his vision to create a campus that would train up leaders for Africa and that would be financially self-sufficient through micro-enterprise business ventures.

In the early years, Andrew was the sole financial donor of Heroes of the Nation. Others have since joined to support the vision. Andrew has forged a deep and loving partnership with Dr Weston and Violet Gitonga and Heroes of the Nation has rescued more than 500 children.
