HEROS OF THE NATION


Each of the 530 children at Heroes of the Nation has a unique story and dream. We would like to introduce you to a few of the children at the HTN campus.

NAME : Agnes
AGE : 14
Agnes has six siblings. She enjoys playing soccer and wants to be a pilot. Her favorite food is chips and chicken.

NAME : Alex
AGE : 9
Alex's single mother died of AIDS when he was three. He is at Heroes with his sister Catherine. Alex is happy and playful. He enjoys any type of athletics.

NAME : Alfred
AGE : 16
Alfred became homeless after the post-election crisis in 2007. He is in Heroes and recovering from trauma suffered. He loves listening to the radio. Alfred shows leadership as the school's head boy.

NAME : Antony
AGE : 8
Antony is doing well in school. His favorite subjects are math and science. He dreams of being a pilot.

NAME : Benson
AGE : 11
Benson's parents died of AIDS and he was left alone and neglected. He is doing well in a loving environment. He loves reading story books and would like to be an engineer.

NAME : Beth
AGE : 13
Beth's parents died within a year of each other, leaving no one to care for Beth. She came to HTN in 2005. Beth's favorite past time is dancing. She loves heroes because of the way she is taken care of.

NAME : Catherine
AGE : 14
After her father's death, Catherine's mother was unable to provide for her five children. Catherine was brought to Heroes where she has lived for six years. She loves art and music. Her favorite subject in school is mathematics.

NAME : Cyrus
AGE : 20
Cyrus loves acting, singing and traveling. He is a member of the journalism club and enjoys playing soccer and rugby. Cyrus is involved in many activities on campus and shows natural leadership. He wants to study to be a police investigator after graduation.

NAME : Dennis
AGE : 13
Dennis is doing well in school. He loves playing football. Dennis would like to study to become an engineer.

NAME : Eric
AGE : 13
Eric's older brother took care of him after his parents died. He lived on the streets before coming to Heroes of the Nation. Eric is performing excellently in school. He enjoys playing volleyball.

NAME : Esther
AGE : 6
Esther is an artist. She loves drawing! Esther does well in school and would like to study to become a pilot.

NAME : Faith
AGE : 13
Faith's mother died in 2001 and her father died four years later. Faith and her brother are now living at Heroes of the Nation. Faith is working hard to be a doctor so that she can give a helping hand to the sick.

NAME : Geoffrey
AGE : 14
Geoffrey came from the nearby slums. In his free time, Geoffrey likes to sing and play football. His favorite subjects are English, Kiswahili and mathematics. He would like to be a pilot.

NAME : Grace Anne
AGE : 7
Grace's mother died and she was left to live with her uncle in the slums. She was brought to Heroes of the Nation in 2005. Grace Anne is jovial and courageous. She dreams of being a nurse when she grows up.

NAME : Kelvin
AGE : 17
Kelvin is a passionate leader. He wants to become a member of the Kenyan Parliament in order to pass legislation that will transform his nation. Kelvin serves as the school captain. He loves to play rugby and sing.

NAME : Mary
AGE : 16
Mary and her three siblings were orphaned after their parents died of AIDS. They are now all at Heroes of the Nation. Mary loves playing basketball and netball. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

NAME : Pauline
AGE : 14
Pauline's father died of AIDS. Twelve days later, her mother died as well. She shows good academic performance and demonsrates leadership as the entertainment prefect. She has aspirations of becoming a lawyer.

NAME : Princess
AGE : 12
Princess has three sisters. She enjoys studying math and science. Princess loves to dance.

NAME : Rachel
AGE : 10
Rachel enjoys math and English. Her favorite hobby is playing netball. She would like to be a doctor when she grows up.
